The high genetic potential males are supplied to sheep breeders/farmers of the state at subsidized rates whereas, females produced at the farm are reared at the farm itself for obtaining purebred offspring. The female calves produced at the farm are kept at the farm itself where they are reared and then inseminated artificially by expert staff in order to produce higher genetic potential offspring. Government Buffalo Breeding Farm is run at Mattewara with the aim of producing high genetic potential purebred male buffalo calves to be supplied to the state run semen banks where they can be used to harvest/produce semen and then processed into semen straws to be supplied to the state veterinary service institutions for artificial insemination of the livestock and thus, improving genetic potential of the livestock of the whole state and promoting breed improvement/ purebred culture in the state.
